“A former abstract artist, Philip Koch was inspired by seeing Edward Hopper’s paintings to change to working in a realist direction. Since 1983 Koch has been granted unprecedented access to Hopper’s former studio in S. Truro, MA on Cape Cod, enjoying 17 residencies staying and working there.

Koch’s paintings are in the permanent collections of 16 American art museums. Recently he served for three years as the Artist in Residence at the Burchfield Penney Art Center in Buffalo, NY. He is an emeritus professor at MICA in Baltimore.”
