Art Renewal Center Living Master Virgil Elliott, born 1944, is the author of Traditional Oil Painting, (updated edition currently published by Echo Point Books.) His art education began in early childhood (1940s,) and included instruction by many of the top illustrators of the 1940s, ‘50s and ‘60s. He began painting circa 1956. An active member of the ASTM Subcommittee on Artists’ Paints and Materials since 1997, Virgil is widely acknowledged as an expert on oil painting materials and methods, whose writings, advice and instruction have been sought by artists and students in all parts of the world for many years.
