Robert Liberace Workshop

Tuesday, November 6 from 12PM to 5PM
Wednesday, November 7 from 9AM to 2:45PM

Robert Liberace is known for his inspiring and informative teaching style. He is an ARC Living Master, his work inspired by centuries of knowledge and skill exemplified by the great masters. He strives to combine his fascination with anatomy, art history, and technique to produce work in a variety of disciplines including drawing, watercolor, painting, and sculpture.

Join Rob at the 2018 Figurative Art Convention & Expo for this hands-on drawing course, where you will explore the structure and particular anatomy of the human body with the classic technique of using red chalk.

Anatomy Explored in Red Chalk

From Da Vinci’s sublime studies to Michelangelo’s muscular creations, the study of anatomy has inspired extraordinary achievements in the history of art. We can see that their work was shaped by a deep knowledge of the human machine and that this zest for learning led directly to works of absolute mastery. This class will explore the style and substance of figure drawing, viewed through the prism of human anatomy. The anatomical structures of the body will be drawn using the traditional technique of red chalk, the quintessential master tool for describing the warmth and energy of the human body.

This will be a traditional workshop, where you draw along with Rob. He will teach from the stage, with large-screen monitors showing slides and strokes. A materials list will be provided for registered workshop attendees.

Must be a registered attendee of the main FACE event to attend. Attendance is limited.

Casey Baugh Course

Tuesday, November 6 from 12PM to 5PM
Wednesday, November 7 from 9AM to 2:45PM

A master of portraits and a master teacher, Casey Baugh will be presenting his final workshop at the 2018 Figurative Art Convention & Expo before his teaching hiatus.

Casey will deconstruct his work and process in a way that allows students to apply his techniques and theories to their own work. This demo will focus on creating a portrait painting, from the early stages of setup to the finishing strokes. Casey will be working from both a live model and a computer screen. He will also discuss his way of seeing value, drawing, and edge, as well as composition theory and design.

Again, Casey will be taking an extended break from workshops for the foreseeable future — do not miss this special opportunity!

Casey Baugh’s work is described as narrative impressionistic realism. His paintings have been featured on the cover of multiple publications, including the May/June 2018 issue of Fine Art Connoisseur.

Unlike a traditional workshop, where you paint along, this is a large demo environment where Casey will teach from the stage, with large-screen monitors showing slides and brushstrokes. No painting materials needed as you will not be painting in this course, but you will want to take lots of notes.

Must be a registered attendee of the main FACE event to attend. Attendance is limited.

This course is appropriate for artists of ALL mediums.
