Painting the figure takes on many forms, from classical academic realism to looser, brushier representations. At last, the figure has its own conference, a place for museum-quality figure painters — and those who strive to be — to gather to exchange ideas, learn from great masters, improve their painting skills, and form a community to carry the flag for realism.
Held on the East Coast of the United States at the historic Williamsburg Lodge in historic Williamsburg, Virginia, the third annual Figurative Art Convention & Expo (FACE) is designed to be hands-on; attendees can paint, grow, and become inspired in a fun environment. The Expo Hall will provide vendors who serve the figurative art community.
The event is created by Fine Art Connoisseur magazine, and hosted by Editor Peter Trippi and Publisher Eric Rhoads.
I will be back nov 2018 to join the 2nd FACE, AM GLAD I JOINED , I AM EVEN MORE DETERMINED NOW TO KEEP ON PRACTICING NON STOP
Loved the Face Event. I am looking forward to next year. Thanks Eric.
It’s like seeing Hollywood stars, but for artists!
It has been by far the best experience I’ve had as an artist outside my studio or Atelier.
Unbelievable experience! Sooo memorable! Soo grateful for this very special FACE event!
Sketching in the airport, waiting for my next flight. The FACE conference was incredible and inspiring.
The energy was palpable as dozens of us worked from life after a day full of instruction and inspiration.
Had a great final day at #FACE17 !! Thank you to all those who helped in this event, and it was so great to meet so many kind, talented, and intellectual people! It was so awesome to do some figure painting and to watch such amazing demos/ listen to speeches.
Great fun at #face17 tonight in Miami. Room of a hundred or so talented artists making figurative art happen all night long.
A huge thank you to everyone who planned and participated in the 2017 Figurative Art Conference and Expo (especially the fine folks of Fine Art Connoisseur magazine). It was a tremendous undertaking to put together. We met so many people and enjoyed all the demos and talks… for us it was a big success. Hoping for many more FACEs to come.
Great talk by Peter Trippi that covered a heck of a lot of bases about the challenges of being an artist today. Fingers crossed there will be an announcement tomorrow about a #face18
#FACE17 figurative art conference and exhibition was an amazing experience! So many wonderful demonstrations, lectures, art materials, and of course, old and new friends! Thanks to @ericrhoads and everyone else for making it happen.
