Project Description

Nancy Tankersley

Nancy Tankersley Artist

“Nancy Tankersley likes to paint all subjects including figures and portraits, landscapes and still life. She feels it is important for contemporary artists to capture the land and the people as they are today. People engaged in their occupations, enjoying their leisure time by eating, shopping or just strolling down a streets, all of these are ordinary subjects which can make extraordinary paintings. She tries to paint from life as much as possible so that her work has the authenticity that comes from capturing a moment in time, but also feels that photo references are valuable tools that artists can use to broaden their subject matter.
In 2019, Tankersley was the featured artist at the 49th Waterfowl Arts Festival in Easton. Maryland. In 2016 and 2017 the artist was included in the American Masters Exhibit at the Salmagundi Club in NYC. Throughout her career she has completed over 300 commissioned portraits, and has portraits in the Naval Academy Museum and the Law School of William and Mary College.”
